My Story

Ben Wymer is a wildlife ecologist, certified wildlife tracker, and conservation photographer whose work is rooted in a deep commitment to understanding and protecting the natural world. His career has taken him across the northern latitudes of the United States, working at the intersection of wildlife research and land conservation.

Through this work, Ben has developed a clear understanding that conserving ecosystems is not just about wildlife: it is about people, community, and the long-term health of the landscapes we all depend on. He continues to actively engage in field research, tracking, and ecological study, always seeking to deepen his understanding of animal behavior, habitat relationships, and the subtle patterns that shape the natural world.

Photography has become a powerful extension of that work. Through his images, Ben invites others into moments they might otherwise never see, using visual storytelling to inspire curiosity, awareness, and a stronger connection to place. Just as importantly, he strives to create welcoming, supportive environments where people feel comfortable asking questions, exploring uncertainty, and engaging with nature on their own terms.

Tracking remains central to Ben’s approach. More than a method of identification, it is a way of seeing – an entry point into a deeper relationship with the natural world. As a certified wildlife tracker, Ben brings both skill and passion to sharing this knowledge, helping others learn to read the stories written across the ground and to better understand the lives unfolding around them.

Ben has created educational nature walk videos for a local land trust and for the U.S. Forest Service’s Woodsy the Owl Junior Ranger Program. He has also contributed content to the latest edition of the Birds of the Squam Lakes Region.
