As a photographer, I introduce and keep people in touch with the wild places and animals that share this world. In that spirit, if you feel drawn to one or more of my images, I would love to share them with you. If you are a fellow artist who would like to reference one of my images for your own work, I would gladly grant you permission for this. In either case, the photos posted here are only a fraction of my entire portfolio. If you would like to license, purchase, or inquire about an image please contact me.

A New Hampshire wildcat on the prowl! This bobcat A New Hampshire wildcat on the prowl! This bobcat strolled by the camera trap I have set up behind my house. I can quite literally look up the hill and see the log where this bobcat crossed.

I wasn't home at the time this bobcat strolled by, which could well be why the bobcat chose to swing through. Instead, I was checking and rebaiting cameras and a trap for the fisher project I'm working on. Coincidentally, both cameras I checked this afternoon also had bobcats on them!

Martens are the best. They've got the charm; they' Martens are the best. They've got the charm; they've got the looks; they've got the best kicks around, doubling for both snowshoes and climbing; and they've got the attitude.

The past week, we have caught a few of these spunky weasels as bycatch while conducting research on fishers in northern New Hampshire. This time of year, all the martens have transitioned into their winter coats (shown here). Getting to see these little guys is a real treat, but watching how acrobatic they are is the best.

Generally, their first reaction is to climb the nearest tree. At which point, often just a few feet up, they stop and look back at you. Some climb higher into the canopy, and they'll jump from tree to tree, using the tree limbs as stepping stones. Others see that we don't give chase, and they hop down and bound away, often noticeably more casual. We watch as they disappear into the forest, and we leave knowing that there is a good chance we'll see them soon enough.

I had such an incredible encounter with two otters I had such an incredible encounter with two otters a couple days ago. This individual hauled out onto this log, right in front of me. I couldn't believe it! Honestly, it was so close that I had a hard time getting the otter's entire body in frame since I was using a fixed 500mm lens. Hope you all enjoy these shots!
